Biography

The short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: “Hank” Aaron and “Eddie” Mathews led the Braves to a World Series title in 1957 against the Yankees, and in last year’s rematch, they came up a game short. “Eddie” usually bats 3rd in the order, and “Hank” follows in the cleanup spot. In 1957, the duo combined for 74 homers and 226 RBIs. In 1958, it was 61 homers and 172 RBIs. On a team that includes pitchers Warren Spahn, Lew Burdette, and Bob Buhl, backstop Del Crandall, and first sacker Joe Adcock, the future looks bright for the Braves in Milwaukee.
