Biography

From the Helmar-R319 card back: Nobaru Aota has led the Japanese League in homers five times. In 1948 he led the league with a .306 average, while racking up 31 doubles, 25 homers, 95 runs and 99 RBI. In 1950, he hit .332 with a .560 slugging average. His hard-partying lifestyle seems to irk the owners of the Giants.Teammate Kikuji Hirayama is known as a more dedicated, low-key player. Entering the season at 30 years old, this is his eighth season with the team. In addition, he lost five years due to the war. He is a contact hitter that sprays line drives over the field and has excellent base running instincts.
