Hal Trosky

Biography

The short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: First baseman “Hal” hit .330 in 1934, .343 in ’36, .334 in ’38, and .335 in ’39. He led the league with 162 RBIs and 405 total bases in ’36. The native Iowan was named team captain in ’39, and has helped smooth issues between caustic manager Oscar Vitt and the Indians. Some say “Hal’s” been overshadowed by fellow Junior League first sackers Jimmie Foxx, Lou Gehrig, and Hank Greenberg. Recently, he’s been plagued by headaches that have forced him from the lineup. “Hal” bats left, throws right. He’s 6’2”, weighs 205 lbs.
