Riggs Stephenson

Biography

The short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: Riggs has racked up a .336 batting average over his 14-year career, with a .473 slugging average. He has batted .319 or better every year except two. In 1927, he led the NL in doubles with 46. In ’29, he, “Hack” Wilson, and “Kiki” Cuyler comprised the only outfield trio in NL history to each compile 100 or more RBIs. Riggs was a key component of the pennant-winning Cubs teams of ’29 and ’32, batting .378 in World Series play. He stands 5’10”, weighs 185 pounds, and is a righty.
