Robin ROBERTS (HOF)

Biography

A short bio from the Helmar “This Great Game” card back: Attended Michigan State College on a basketball scholarship and earned three letters on the hard court. As a junior he walked onto the baseball team and became a batting practice pitcher before getting a chance to start games. The Phillies signed him after his second season in the short-season Vermont League. Among National League hurlers, Roberts is one of the most respected competitors to toe the rubber. The star pitcher lives with his family on Robin Hood Road just outside Philadelphia.
