Wally Post

Biography

A short bio from the Helmar “This Great Game” card back: Every ballpark in the National League has been host to a mammoth home run blast by Wally, who hits the baseball as far as anyone in the circuit. He’s hit a ball onto the roof at Ebbets Field and is one of the few men to swat the sphere over the clock scoreboard in deep left-center field at Crosley. Began his professional career as a righthanded pitcher, but once former Tiger Gee Walker came across Wally on his Sally League team, Post was switched to the outfield. Post is busy in the off-season too, as part owner of a tomato cannery in his native Ohio.
