The short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: Hard-nosed “Babe” is found on the left side of the infield for the Reds, playing some shortstop and third base. He hit .305 in 1922, .277 in ’23, and .306 last year. “Babe” hails from San Francisco, and has played in the Pacific Coast League with Sacramento, Oakland, and Portland. He’s swung the bat for the White Sox and Tigers, before hooking on with Cincinnati. He’s mentioned that after his playing days are over he might like to call balls and strikes as an umpire. “Babe” bats and throws right, stands 5’9”, and tips the scales at 165 lbs.
