Pesky, Johnny

Biography

From the "This Great Game" card back: Pesky was just that—pesky. He was a slap-hitting batter who put the ball in play. Through his first three full seasons, Pesky had 620 hits and a career .330 average. He and Dom DiMaggio were like salt and pepper, setting the table at the top of the lineup in front of Ted Williams and Bobby Doerr. He tapered after that, but he was still a .307 career hitter and one of the most popular players to ever wear a Red Sox uniform.
