Bobo Newsom

Biography

From the "This Great Game" card back: When you can’t be bothered to remember anyone’s name and you call everyone “Bobo,” that’s when you get the nickname for yourself. Add an aw-shucks, fun-loving attitude, and Newsom is one of baseball’s most beloved and popular players. A character on and off the field. Bobo is no slouch with a glove on his hand: he’s nearly 200 wins after earning 11 victories for the Senators at the age of 38 in 1946. This is the third stint for much-traveled Bobo in D.C., who started his career in 1929.
