Dale Mitchell

The short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: Overshadowed by “Ted” Williams, the retired “Joe” DiMaggio, and “Stan The Man” Musial, Dale has an eye at the plate to rival any of them. He’s hit over .300 six of the last seven seasons, with a high of .323 in 1952.Here’s something the more-famous sluggers haven’t equaled: in ’49, Dale struck out only 11 times in the entire season, about once every 60 at-bats! Eagle-eyed “Teddy Ballgame’s” best is 32 K’s in 526 at-bats in 1954, every 16 1/2 at-bats. The Colony, Oklahoma native is 6’1” and 197 lbs. He bats and throws left.
