Minnie Minoso

Biography

A short bio from the Helmar “This Great Game” card back: Minnie is known as a big league talker, one of his roommates complained that his batting average dipped twenty points because of the sleep he missed due to Minoso’s chatter. The Cuban-born star says a lot with his bat too: he sprays line drives to the corner of the outfield, and with his aggressive baserunning, he often turns a single into a double and a double into a triple. Maybe Minnie’s love of conversation is why he gets hit by pitches so often: he stands so close to the plate perhaps to carry on with the catcher and umpire?
