Johnny MIZE

Biography

A short bio from the Helmar “This Great Game” card back: The pride of Demorest, Georgia, Johnny is a strong, lefthanded batter who’s tough to strike out. Three times in a full season, Big Jawn has hit more homers than he’s had strikeouts. The Cardinals nearly lost him before they knew what they had: in 1934 he was traded to the Reds but returned with Cincy found he was injured. Mize has made the Redbirds happy about that turn of events, becoming a home run and batting champion in the National League.
