Larsen, Don

Biography

From the "This Great Game" card back: When Larsen toed the rubber for Game Five of the ‘56 World Series he was feeling unsteady after a terrible bullpen session. But, something clicked with Larsen and batterymate Yogi Berra, and 27 outs later, Larsen had etched his name in history. That perfecto under extreme pressure ensured Larsen would be remembered forever, but the thick-chested right-hander also won three more games in the Fall Classic, one each in 1956, 1957, 1958, and in 1962.
