Ralph KINER (HOF)

Biography

A short bio from the Helmar “This Great Game” card back: Ralph claims he hits home runs to earn a big contract so his mother can retire from her nursing job. Kiner’s mom has raised him on her own since Ralph’s dad passed away when he was four years old. Ralph has received batting tips from Pirate legend Honus Wagner and teammate Hank Greenberg, who suggested Kiner hold his bat closer to his rear shoulder. Kiner hits so many circuit blows now the Pirates have dubbed left field “Kiner’s Korner,” upgrading it from “Greenberg’s Gardens.”
