Tokuji IIDA (HOF)

Biography

The short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: He doesn’t care where he hits in the line-up…he just hits! A key member of the Hawks ‘Million Dollar Infield’ along with Tsuruoka, Kizuka and Kageyama, Iida is a reliable glove at first, taking part in 143 double plays in ’54. Achieved stardom with a sensational campaign in 1949, with 27 home runs and 101 runs batted in. The 1955 Most Valuable Player and perennial All-Star hasn’t missed a game in several seasons.
