Chick HAFEY (HOF)

Biography

A short bio from the Boston Garter Game of the Century card back: Chick Hafey wore out his welcome in St. Louis because of his salary demands and Cincinnati baseball bugs are glad he did. Last year Chick batted. 344 for the Red Legs and now in his second go round in Porkopolis he has been voted as the NLs starting left fielder for the upcoming “all star” game. Nobody hits the ball harder than Chick who batted .329 or higher 5 straight years for the Cardinals, including 1931 when he won the batting crown with a mark of .349. In 1929 tied record with 10 consecutive hits. Only bad sinuses and weak vision have prevented Hafey from reaching even more glorious heights.
