Bernie Friberg

Biography

A short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: Bernie likes to play and makes himself available for wherever manager Bill Killefer can shoe-horn him in. He seems to like the third sack best but has played at first, second, and each of the outfield positions. It would be a mistake to think that Bernie is only a defensive player. Opposing pitchers have made that error only to see him smack out a line drive for a double. In 1922, playing in 97 games, he batted .311. The following year he played regularly, getting into 146 contests and batted .318. What’s more, his 88 runs batted in led the team.
