Lew Fonseca

A short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: Unusual for a fielder, Lew plays both the first and second sacks as well as left field. He’s a spray hitter and the opposing team never knows where he will punch the ball. Last season (1929) he led the league with a .369 average. Lew hits when the pressure is on; he also had 103 runs batted in. His average was helped by four games where he had four hits; his favorite game was April 18 when he also had had four RBI vs. Detroit. He did it again on May 19th vs. St. Louis. Both those games pale, however to June 25th vs. St. Louis once again. In that game he had seven RBI in a 10-7 victory!
