Frank FRISCH (HOF)

Biography

A short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: Every once in a while a young man comes along that is clearly headed for a glorious baseball career. Frankie Frisch is one of those young men. He joined the Giants in 1919 and manager McGraw made sure that he played in 54 games for experience. Just two years later Frankie batted .341 and led the big leagues with 49 stolen bases. It seems that he can do it all with a bat; he regularly bats in more than 100, hits over .300, has led the bigs with as many as 223 hits. He usually scores more than 100 per season, too. His glove is dangerous, too. What he can’t scoop cleanly he knocks down with his chest before throwing out another runner.
