George Earnshaw

Biography

A short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: This 6 foot, 4 inch native of New York City is not called “Moose” without reason. When he gets in a work routine on the mound he is a force to be reckoned with. In the season just completed, 1932, George won 19 against 13 losses. It was a sub-par year for him but the team won an amazing 107 games against just 45 losses on their way to another championship. The three previous seasons Moose won twenty games in each, including a big league leading 24 wins in 1929. George didn’t come to the majors until he was 28 because he was happy in Baltimore, once winning as many as 29 games for the Orioles.
