Biography

A short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: “Jumping Joe” Dugan, infielder for Connie Mack’s A’s, earned his nickname for his tendency to jump the team after a bad performance. After a few days, he would find his way back to the club. Joe hit .322 in 1920, and .295 in ’21, when he played mostly at third base. His number of errors has decreased, going from 48 in 1918, to 44 in ’19, to 35 in ’20, to 16 last year. Joe bats and throws from the right side. He is 5’11” and 159 pounds. There are rumors that he is headed to the Red Sox.
