Tony Cuccinello

Biography

A short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: New York native “Cooch” is headed to the big leagues, it’s just a matter of which team will take him to the altar. Last year for the Columbus Senators, the third sacker hit .357 with 56 doubles, 10 triples and 20 homers. The year before that, in ’28, he hit .310 with 26 doubles, 12 triples, and 10 round trippers for the Danville Veterans of the Three I League. “Tony” is pictured at a tryout for the Yankees. But the “Bronx Bombers” have turned their noses up at the New Yorker, and after returning the pinstripes, “Tony” is on board a westbound train, where a tryout with the Reds awaits in Cincinnati. “Cooch” stands 5’ 6”, weighs 170 pounds, bats and throws right.
