Harry Brecheen

Biography

From the "This Great Game" card back: The Cat enters the 1950 season having won his fewest games in a season in six years. But given his big league experience and swagger on the hill, we wouldn’t bet against Brecheen returning to the 20-game winner circle like he was in 1948. When the Cards were winning NL flags with ease in the 1940s, Brecheen was their go-to ace, and in 1946 he stymied the Red Sox three times in the Fall Classic to lead St. Louis to their third title in the decade.
